2010 Synod Assembly

STEPS TO FOLLOW TO GET READY

txboot STEP #2: BOOK YOUR ROOM

As soon as you know you are an elected Voting Member from your congregation, book your room. The options are listed to the left. When you call, be sure to ask for the Lutheran Assembly rate of $89 per night. Congregations normally reimburse Voting Members for their hotel stay and registration costs.

STEP #3: PLAN YOUR REGISTRATION

Electronic: as you see by the fee schedule on the left, it is best to register early, online and by credit card. Doing so saves the synod a lot of bookkeeping and administrative time and expense, and we pass the savings on to you. Registration will be open in early 2010.

Handwritten: registrations submitted by mail must include both check and registration form(s). Please do not use church email addresses for the personal email address requested. Please do not register "generic" members (Voting member #1, #2 . . .) they will not be processed as official registrations and could cause your submission to be charged a late fee.

How many? Normally a congregation selects a lay male Voting Member and a lay female voting member for the assembly. All rostered leaders of the congregation automatically attend. Some larger congregations can send additional lay voting members (based on the baptized and confirmed members from the last parochial report):

Less than 175 = allowed a total of two, but may elect to send just one
Up to 500 = allowed a total of two (2) lay voting members
501 - 750 = allowed a total of three (3) lay voting members
751 - 1000 = allowed a total of four (4) lay voting members
1001 - Up = allowed a total of five (5) lay voting members

Congregations are asked to make an effort to bring one (perhaps both) of their voting members between the ages of 18 - 35.
