PREPARATIONS
2010 Synod Assembly

STEPS TO FOLLOW TO GET READY
Congratulations on being selected as a voting member of the 2010 Synod Assembly. This is a position of trust and responsibility.
-
STEP #1: BACKGROUND READING
If you have never been to a Synod Assembly (and even if you have), read the items under "Assembly Information" listed on the left. An assembly is not a convention, it is more like a council.

-
YOUR READING LIST
A. Learn about the theme (previous page) and setting.
B. Read the Book of Reports as it becomes available online. Print those sections that you want to have with you at the assembly site.
C. Have a look at the Minutes of the 2009 Synod Assembly.
D. Talk with your pastor or congregational members about the business that is coming before the assembly this year.
E. Enlist the help of your fellow members to gather up items for the medical clinic in Sierra Leone. We will "stuff the shipping container" while we are at the assembly.
F. Plan now to bring a generous offering from you and your congregation. Our offerings this year will be used to support two special projects in Sierra Leone. To learn more, click here.
G. Be in prayer. Study the assembly's theme scripture: John 13:34-35.

Through his poems and songs, he weaves images of people and places in telling the tales of the American West of yesterday and today.
