The synod is served by Bishop Kevin Kanouse and a team of people who assist him in the conduct of the work of the Office of Bishop. The staff includes both ordained and lay professionals, both part time and full time, each with specific areas of ministry.

The synod is blessed by the service of about 150 rostered leaders -- women and men who have the training, skills, faith and commitment to serve alongside the thousands of lay members and leaders in our congregations and church-related organizations. As we engage ministry and mission together, we are a powerful example of the way God can use our DiscipleLife.
Rostered Leaders include those in ordained ministry (pastors who provide a ministry of Word and Sacrament) and those in lay rostered ministry (associates in ministry, diaconal ministers and deaconesses who provide a ministry of Word and Service). In the NT-NL Synod we also are served by lay ministers who have been authorized by the bishop to serve as Synodically Authorized Worship Leaders (SAWLs).
