Leadership development across our #milesandmiles is a priority for me as bishop and for all of #NTNL. This morning, our Parish Lay Ministry Academy began its spring semester. Cohorts (English and Spanish) meet all day on Saturday at Briarwood Retreat Center in the new leadership building three times each semester. I am honored to teach a course on leadership styles in the fall semester.
While we have always tried to include individuals across our synod in this ministry, the distance has often prevented those farther from the metroplex from participating. However, the technology of the center has changed that reality. Utilizing Zoom software to video conference individuals from two other locations took part in the English language class.
This is so very exciting for me personally and for our future as a leader in developing lay leaders for service in congregations and across our church. Please take time to learn more about the PLMA. Thank you to our new Dean, the Rev. Phillip Heinze, for leading and for the faculty who take time to teach and work with our students.
