Assembly Resolution Form
Below is the form used to submit a resolution to the annual Assembly of the Northern Texas-Northern Louisiana (NT-NL) Synod of the ELCA.
Resolutions can only be brought to the floor by Voting Members (not by agencies, conferences, or congregations). They are automatically referred to the Committee for Reference and Counsel which will, in turn, make a recommendation to the Assembly that the resolutions be adopted, defeated, referred, or handled in some other manner.
There are two kinds of motions:
- A memorial is a request or petition that an assembly addresses to the Churchwide Assembly.
- A resolution is an action or statement that the assembly pledges itself to accomplish or promote.
Each motion must have a title or topic, the name of the presenter and their home congregation, and the background information on how the motion will impact our finances, personnel, and mission.
Whereas statements set a stage of information and rationale; resolved statements commit the NT-NL Synod to a specific action or request.
Deadline to submit a resolution for the 2018 Assembly is April 13, 2018.
